A subtle reminder that nothing discarded ever goes away, each assemblage in this series resembles an organism or miniature landscape made up of plastic and metal materials that we use in our daily contemporary lives. The items we use are manufactured to give us something we desire; they make us more beautiful, hide unsightliness, move information more quickly, and help us live longer.

With newer versions created to achieve speeds and conveniences better than the previous, each innovation helps streamline mundane tasks or burdensome chores. Eventually becoming obsolete, most of these disposable objects will continue existing longer than their owners, filling drawers, garages and attics, thrift stores, and every garbage dumpsite on the planet.

The objects in these pieces were gathered over the course of three years and were found or purchased at the places that follow:
  • Santa Clara University e-waste area
  • Estate sales
  • Excess Solutions
  • Ebay
  • Amazon
  • Thrift stores
  • At home
  • From colleagues, friends, and family
